Hiya, neighbour! Welcome to the website for "The Canadian Abbott & Costello"...

As portrayed by Winnipeg actors John Chase and Kevin Hamill, the boys' celebrity impressionist act is a tribute to comedy legends Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.

It is said that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"; we hope Bud and Lou would have agreed. Being not only impersonators but huge fans as well, we share an immense amount of respect for the pair. After all, if it were't for these two men — who grew up in burlesque and whose sanitized version of it was broadcast to family audiences of the 1940s and '50s — so many skits, bits, and routines belonging to this North American art form would now be forever lost to time.

No performers will ever again deliver what Abbott and Costello did, with a perfect straight-man/comic contrast that once made them the highest paid men in Hollywood. However, good comedy never grows old; and it is with great pleasure that we re-create their classic routines for contemporary audiences.

To find out what we're up to right now, the gigs page is a great place to start. Since 2007, we've been featured as guest performers in multiple local comedy shows, played at corporate-sponsored seniors' dinners, hosted an "Evening of Abbott & Costello" film night, and received five-star reviews at the 2008 Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
